Obama: From Bad to Worse

May 31, 2010 4 comments

“I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.” – Barack Obama, 2008

Flash forward: A severe and unrelenting recession, 10% unemployment – almost 18% under employment, mountains of catastrophic debt, 3 terror attacks and badly handled responses, a health care program no one wants, Arizona is so fed up with the administration’s border security ineptness they take matters into their own hands and the country cheers. North Korea attacks a South Korean vessel and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hands out teddy bears in China. A BP oil rig explodes and Team Obama couldn’t be bothered. In fact, the administration’s oil spill response is little more than a pathetic puppet show that reminds us that how truly incompetent big government can be.

Since taking office, President Obama has failed each and every time he was presented with a challenge. Yet he parades the country, podium in tow, and pontificates constantly, as if by his very presence and flowery words the problem will right itself. That’s not leadership – it’s narcissism.

“Well, when you anoint yourself King Canute, you mustn’t be surprised when your subjects expect you to command the tides.” – Dr. Charles Krauthammer, May 2010

Peggy Noonan, a RINO who supported Obama over McCain/Palin simply because he appealed to her more urbane, east coast instincts has also had enough of the man, “This is his third political disaster in his first 18 months in office. And they were all, as they say, unforced errors, meaning they were shaped by the president’s political judgment and instincts.” Really? Now you get what real conservatives were warning the nation about two years ago?

I don’t see how much will change between now and November. Obama will run around the country polarizing the population and arrogantly governing against the will of the people. His popularity will continue to slide and Democrats will run for the hills as Obama’s presidency circles the drain.

So I will put this post in a time capsule for 3 months. Nothing will have change. Until then, farewell.

Obama vs. the Truth

May 9, 2010 2 comments

“You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter.

With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. Some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction. All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy.” – Obama the Great Deceiver

This is so beyond the pale I don’t where to begin. But Obama’s take on the information revolution perfectly illustrates how afraid liberals are unfiltered information. Since old media no longer has a handle on the news people can access information from a variety of sources, not just liberal media puppets. For obvious reasons, Obama and the Democrats would prefer you get force fed their agenda.

BTW. President Bush and Laura Bush had iPods and had no trouble operating them.

Daydreamin’

This email from a friend tickled me and I really wish it were true. Obama supporters wanted change – here’s one possible side effect.

“Dear Employees:

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead.

This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty ‘Obama’ bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change… I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.”

High Crimes and Misdemeanors?

“Former governor Rod Blagojevich’s defense team asked Thursday to issue a trial subpoena to the President of the United States of America.

The motion, intended to be heavily redacted, was improperly edited — the full document was easily viewable if the text is copied and pasted to another document (an error first revealed on Capitol Fax).” – NBC Chicago

  1. Obama may have lied about conversations with convicted fraudster Tony Rezko.
  2. Obama may have overtly recommended Valerie Jarret for his Senate seat.
  3. A supporter of President Obama may have offered quid pro quo on a Jarrett senate appointment.
  4. Obama maintained a list of good Senate candidates.
  5. Rahm Emanuel allegedly floated Cheryl Jackson’s name for the Senate seat.
  6. Obama had a secret phone call with Blagojevich.

You can take the boy out of the corrupt Chicago political machine, but you can never take the corrupt Chicago political machine out of the boy. Do conservatives have our smoking gun? One thing’s for sure, Rod Blagojevich ain’t gonna go quietly.

Comedy Central Bends Over

“An episode of “South Park” that continued a story line involving the Prophet Muhammad was shown Wednesday night on Comedy Central with audio bleeps and image blocks reading “CENSORED” after a Muslim group warned the show’s creators that they could face violence for depicting that holy Islamic prophet.” – NYTimes

Comedy Central showed just how yellow they really are when threatened by Islamist thugs. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone weren’t intimidated by these punks yet an entire cable channel ran for the hills.

When it comes to mocking Christians, conservatives or Tea Party members, Comedy Central is all balls. But throw in a little home-grown Jihad and liberal elites go running. So much deeply held progressive convictions. Cowards and hypocrites. I can’t wait for Parker and Stone’s fiery satirical response next week.

(D)iabolical

April 22, 2010 Comments off

The diabolical plan goes like this: Obama happily runs up the nation’s debt. Now he and the Democrats have what they believe is justification for a value added tax, an economy killing cash cow that will leave American families struggling to deal with higher prices.

Since Obamacare has imperiled almost every Democrats‘ seat this election year, the next item on the table is (cough) immigration reform. Get that passed and millions of illegal aliens will vote for Democrat for life. Does that about sum up the playing field?

Which leads me to the next topic, Algore took cash from the company responsible for one of the worst pollution disasters in history, Dow Chemical. I thought environmentalists had longer memories than this. Money is apparently this environmentalist’s forget me not.

    Too Late?

    April 17, 2010 Comments off

“Monday’s Gallup report showed the president’s weekly job approval rating at a low of 47 percent. And as the Democratic Party’s favorability has dropped to 41 percent — the lowest in Gallup’s 18-year history of measuring it — this week’s Rasmussen Reports survey shows the Republican Party with a nine-point lead in the generic congressional vote. Moreover, independents, who are more energized than Democrats, are leaning Republican by a 2-to-1 margin.

What all this means is that Republicans are ripe to pick up major gains in both chambers this November.” – Washington Post

I am convinced the Democrats are so in denial about their chances this fall that no advice will be welcomed. Certainly Obama, lemming in chief, refuses to see the forest for the trees. On both sides of the political spectrum and the vast middle, people are pissed, unemployed and unhappy. Nothing will quiet their anger except throwing the bums out.

Yet I fear we may not get to excise our demons in time to make a difference. Many states are on the brink of financial disaster and our nation’s debt load could soon overwhelm us. People either get real about unfunded entitlements or we all go down together.

    Really? Ya think?

“Greenspan says Congress pushed Fed on housing boom”Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke warned Wednesday that Americans may have to accept higher taxes or changes in cherished entitlements such as Medicare and Social Security if the nation is to avoid staggering budget deficits that threaten to choke off economic growth.” – Fed. Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, Washington Post

I am appalled. I had no idea we couldn’t spend like there was no tomorrow (faux surprise). Is this some kind of new fiscal metric that heretofore we were unaware of? I am aghast. Did anybody clue the Democrats in? Because they seem oblivious to this seemingly new paradigm.

    Future So Dismal

    April 7, 2010 Comments off

“According to recent polls, 60 percent of Americans think the country is heading in the wrong direction. The same percentage believe that the U.S. is in long-term decline. The political system is dysfunctional. A fiscal crisis looks unavoidable. There are plenty of reasons to be gloomy.

But if you want to read about them, stop right here. This column is a great luscious orgy of optimism. Because the fact is, despite all the problems, America’s future is exceedingly bright.” – David Brooks, NYTimes

This is the kind column that gets written just before the bottom falls out. I’m not a glass half empty guy, but by any measure, this RINO’s pollyannish outlook seems misplaced at best. We have some serious issues facing us. We are not getting richer, we are in hock way over our eyeballs, Team Obama doesn’t give two sh*ts about the nation’s unemployment/under employment rate, nor do they have a workable plan to get Americans back to work. Obamacare is certain to tip us back into recession or worse as companies struggle to stay afloat by throwing employees overboard. So whatever David Brooks is smoking, secluded in his Manhattan penthouse, it ain’t reality.

    Porn Control

    April 3, 2010 2 comments

“I think there are many reasons that marriages are not working out, but porn seems to be the least of the problems. And I wonder — does porn distort men’s attitudes as much as romance novels and Lifetime TV distort women’s? Maybe we should discuss the many social institutions that are giving women unrealistic expectations of men and a sense that they have the right to control men, and men’s sexuality, in their own interest.” – Helen Smith, Pajamas Media

It’s what’s kept me sane. Seriously, there are some very dark corners in the porn industry but you can find nefarious characters in just about every industry. I do think Smith’s question is valid – is the attack on porn really more about controlling men’s sexuality than long winded dirty movie diatribes? I find myself feeling libertarian on this subject.

‘Underemployment Rises to 20.3% in March’

    Backlash

    April 1, 2010 Comments off

“Americans anxious about unemployment and the economy increasingly blame President Obama for hard times, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, amid signs of turbulence in November’s midterm elections.

Last week’s jubilant signing of the health care overhaul, Obama’s signature domestic initiative, seems to have given the president little boost. Instead, his standing on four personal qualities has sagged, and 50% of those surveyed say he doesn’t deserve re-election.” – USA TODAY/Gallup Poll

Clearly, there is a public backlash brewing against not only Obama and his policies but against the self-appointed Kings and Queens in congress. Voters are spitting mad and are demanding to be heard. Any politician that dares to ignore these clarion calls will find themselves unemployed this November.

    Drill, Baby! Maybe Not…

    March 31, 2010 Comments off

I’m sure Team Obama is trying to triangulate this new energy policy but conservatives don’t trust him and the kook left is fuming. Even the vasty middle is done with him, according to recent polls. It is interesting that Obama is willing to throw environmentalists under the bus for a little political capital.

July 2008, “When I’m president, I intend to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida’s coasts. That’s how we can protect our coastline and still make the investments that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring down gas prices for good.” – ABC News

“In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Barack Obama is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia’s shorelines. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska.

Obama’s plan offers few concessions to environmentalists, who have been strident in their opposition to more oil platforms off the nation’s shores. Hinted at for months, the plan modifies a ban that for more than 20 years has limited drilling along coastal areas other than the Gulf of Mexico.” – Fox News

Given that almost 17% of the country is struggling trying to make ends meet with unemployment at record highs, this counts for a step in the right direction towards energy independence. Hopefully, it will ease summer gas prices. But never trust a Socialist, especially this one.

Update: Sen. Bob Bennett (R., Utah) says the proposal is smoke and mirrors. I think he’s right.

    Quick Cultural Hits

    March 27, 2010 Comments off

I should go see “Hot Tub Time Machine” just because it has the coolest movie title since “Snakes on a Plane,” which I liked enormously. Sometimes ya just gotta go low-brow. Just ask the Democrats why they tolerate Joe “The Gaffe Machine” Biden 24/7.

Liked “Poker Face” but I heard there was some controvesy surrounding Lady GaGa’s latest video, “Telephone.” Yeah, it sucks. Aside from that intergalactic truth, who told this talentless lollipop that she was culturally important? ‘Cause, I don’t get it and she’s more than a little gross.

“I want to call those deniers out into the street at high noon and shoot it out with those boneheads. Anybody that is a global warming denier at this point in time has got their head so deeply up their a** I’m not sure they could hear me.” – the always lovable James Cameron. Hey Cameron, lock and load, ya premise stealing jackass.
