Unless you’re Obama going on your third vacation since the spill began. This time he’s off to Maine coast.
“I’m not going to rest or be satisfied until the leak is stopped at the source, the oil in the Gulf is contained and cleaned up, and the people in the Gulf are able to go back to their lives and their livelihoods” – Obama, May 14, 2010.
I haven’t a week’s vacation since last Thanksgiving.
So much for the left’s socially responsible (model) corporate citizen.
“BP, which has garnered the bulk of public attention and contempt for the spill, has assembled a formidable team of Democrats for its Washington lobbying, legal and public-relations offensive. There is Tony Podesta, who heads one of the District’s leading lobbying firms; legal adviser Jamie Gorelick, a top Justice Department official in the Clinton administration now at the law firm WilmerHale; Hilary Rosen, a former recording-industry lobbyist who heads the Washington office of the Brunswick Group, a public-relations consultancy; and Michael S. Berman of the Duberstein Group, who was a longtime aide to former vice president Walter F. Mondale before becoming a lobbyist.
Gorelick, who also served as a member of the 9/11 Commission, proved critical in coaching the company during tense negotiations with President Obama over the creation of a $20 billion escrow fund for spill damages, according to several sources close to the talks. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the administration “forced” BP to set up the fund and to intensify its efforts to contain the spill.” – NRO, The Corner
Oh, and don’t forget Oilbama was the biggest recipient of BP’s cash. The oil soaked irony couldn’t be sweeter.

Which leads me to the next topic, Algore took cash from the company responsible for one of the worst pollution disasters in history, Dow Chemical. I thought environmentalists had longer memories than this. Money is apparently this environmentalist’s forget me not.
I’m sure Team Obama is trying to triangulate this new energy policy but conservatives don’t trust him and the kook left is fuming. Even the vasty middle is done with him, according to recent polls. It is interesting that Obama is willing to throw environmentalists under the bus for a little political capital.
July 2008, “When I’m president, I intend to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida’s coasts. That’s how we can protect our coastline and still make the investments that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring down gas prices for good.” – ABC News
“In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Barack Obama is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia’s shorelines. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska.
Obama’s plan offers few concessions to environmentalists, who have been strident in their opposition to more oil platforms off the nation’s shores. Hinted at for months, the plan modifies a ban that for more than 20 years has limited drilling along coastal areas other than the Gulf of Mexico.” – Fox News
Given that almost 17% of the country is struggling trying to make ends meet with unemployment at record highs, this counts for a step in the right direction towards energy independence. Hopefully, it will ease summer gas prices. But never trust a Socialist, especially this one.
Update: Sen. Bob Bennett (R., Utah) says the proposal is smoke and mirrors. I think he’s right.
“From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption. After all has been said and so little done, the truth about the climate crisis — inconvenient as ever — must still be faced.” – Algore, NYTimes Op-Ed
Algore’s delusional op-ed is disturbing. He acknowledges the widespread scientific fraud and the data shenanigans yet he continues to lecture us on our impending doom. Clearly, just like the Democrats’ wrong headed health care crusade, he seems determined to go down with the ship. His very being and reputation are so intertwined with the issue of climate change that he has left himself with no possible exit strategy.
I just finished watching Jared Hess’ the extremely weird but very entertaining movie Gentleman Broncos. Algore would be very much at home in this film. His self-defeating personality disorder is as eccentric as anything I witnessed in Gentleman Broncos. He has no choice but to play out his role as climate change Moses regardless of the ongoing damage to his reputation.
“THERE WILL BE A POTENTIAL FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW AND TRAVEL IMPACTS ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY NIGHT.” – NWS
Big D might get even more snow come Monday. How’s that hope and climate change workin’ out fer ya?
If the science is so settled why do supporters gotta make it up?
- World may not be warming, say scientists, “The United Nations climate panel faces a new challenge with scientists casting doubt on its claim that global temperatures are rising inexorably because of human pollution. In its last assessment the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said the evidence that the world was warming was “unequivocal”… However, new research, including work by British scientists, is casting doubt on such claims. Some even suggest the world may not be warming much at all. “The temperature records cannot be relied on as indicators of global change,” said John Christy, professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a former lead author on the IPCC.” – TimesOnline
- Climategate U-turn as scientist at centre of row admits: There has been no global warming since 1995, “Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon. And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.” – DailyMail
- U.N. climate panel admits Dutch sea level flaw, “A background note by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said a 2007 report wrongly stated that 55 percent of the country was below sea level since the figure included areas above sea level, prone to flooding along rivers… The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, the original source of the incorrect data, said on February 5 that just 26 percent of the country is below sea level and 29 percent susceptible to river flooding. The IPCC said the error was widespread — it quoted a report from the Dutch Ministry of Transport saying “about 60 percent” of the country is below sea level, and a European Commission study saying “about half.” – Reuters
Reports of shoddy work, a reliance on “gray” literature, and fraud are now the new climate change buzz words. Even the public has figured out that climate change is snake oil science, or worse, a possible conspiracy to enrich “true believers.” Given that billions of dollars are at stake, it’s not hard to see what motivates scientists and politicians (D) to keep up the climate shell game.
We’re expecting more chilly temperatures and snow this afternoon here in Big D. Dallas just received a record breaking 12.5 inches of global cooling and the Deep South is expecting more snow. Yet the climate change lie refuses to die, at least with scientists and their groupies. They claim the snow is a by-product of global warming. Sadly for these climate change Chicken Littles, the evidence is overwhelmingly to the contrary.
